The Linde - Tradition Meets Fresh Breeze

For over 75 years, the Linde has been an integral part of the region.

What began in 1949 as a rural inn with a farm operation, became a popular excursion and dining restaurant by late summer 2024 - most recently in the 3rd generation of the Kuhn-Orlando family - that inspired guests with a passion for Swiss cuisine. In the fall of 2024, Maurin Lustenberger took over the management of the inn - under the motto "Preserve the old, enrich with the new".

The Linde remains true to its roots: The well-known "Linde classics" are prepared with fresh, local ingredients and a lot of love. At the same time, Maurin Lustenberger, together with his team, brings new accents to the kitchen and service - always in the spirit of the traditional hospitality for which the Linde has stood for decades.

We look forward to welcoming you to our place. For questions or personal concerns, the entire team is always at your disposal.

2025: Kitchen Renovation & Opening of Linden-Stall

Kitchen Renovation & Opening of Linden-Stall

During the summer months, the kitchen in the Linde was extensively modernized, with a special focus on the hot kitchen. The kitchen processes were optimized and new equipment, including a modern banquet system, was integrated.

The over 30-year-old bowling alley was dismantled and passed on as a spare parts donor for surrounding bowling alleys.
At the beginning of November 2025, the opening of the rustic Linden-Stall took place – an ideal setting for the season of corporate events as well as for family and Christmas celebrations.

Handover to the LUMEGA Family

The Gasthof Linde will be taken over by the LUMEGA Family under the leadership of Maurin Lustenberger on October 1, 2024, thus transitioning from the long-time owners Bernadette and Matteo Orlando-Kuhn to a new gastronomy and hotel family.

50 Years of Linde

After 25 years, the second generation, led by the innkeeper couple Josef and Anna Kuhn-Schenker, hands over the traditional inn to their daughter Bernadette and her husband Matteo. On August 3, 1999, the rural inn also celebrates its 50th anniversary. In the picture, you can see the second generation around Josef and Anna Kuhn-Schenker as well as the third generation around Matteo and Bernadette Orlando-Kuhn.

Family Pride in the Third Generation

At the beginning of January 1996, Bernadette Kuhn-Orlando and Matteo Orlando, as the third generation of the Kuhn family, take over the traditional inn in Mühlethal and run it for many years with great dedication and personal commitment.

A Piece of Mühlethaler History

The beginning of the inn takes its course on July 29, 1949. On this summer day, the Kuhn-Stöckli family moves to Mühlethal into the "Linde," which at that time still functioned as a farm. About 20 years later, on October 1, 1970, the Kuhn-Stöckli family hands over the business to the second generation, Josef & Anna Kuhn-Schenker, who develop the country inn into a well-known and popular excursion destination beyond the cantonal borders.

Sustainability

Rooted in the Region

Regional

Regionality is not a trend at the Linde, but a lived conviction. We consciously work with producers and craft businesses from the Zofingen region and maintain these partnerships with great appreciation.

Our bread comes from the Leutwyler bakery in Zofingen, the eggs from the Wüest farm, and we source the meat from the Sandmeier butcher. Pumpkins, salads, and other vegetables come, among others, from Kürbis Meyer – fresh, seasonal, and from the nearby area.

Sustainability & Partnerships

Our connection to the region is also evident in the house itself: The floor in the Lindenstall was realized by the flooring company Frey from Kölliken, the wood used comes from Swiss forests. The new tabletops, made from Swiss wood, were crafted by the Fretz carpentry, curtains and interior fittings come from Möbel Berger, and plumbing and building technology are implemented by Wülser.

These examples are representative of many other regional partnerships. They all contribute to ensuring that the Linde remains a place rooted in the region, in craftsmanship, and in genuine Swiss hospitality.
